Worn & Heard: Insights from Clothesline User Interviews

Save and Liked Clothes

Based on user feedback, we wanted to ensure that users could easily save items they like. This feature not only allows for personal organization but also helps build trust within the community, as users can revisit their saved items and engage with lenders they feel connected to.

Search Function

The search function is a crucial tool that users expressed a strong need for, allowing them to quickly and easily find specific items.

Messaging

The messaging feature enables seamless communication between renters and lenders, making it easy to ask questions and gather details about an item.

Personalized Clothes

Since Clothesline emphasizes personal expression and social engagement, the profile feature allows lenders to showcase their public closets, helping users discover styles they love and connect with people they know on campus.

Seamless Styling: Mapping the Clothesline User Flow

When designing the user flow for Clothesline, I focused on streamlining the rental process to enhance usability and engagement. Through iterative wireframing and user testing, I identified key friction points—such as unclear navigation in the browsing stage and inefficiencies in the checkout process. By refining the flow with clearer call-to-actions, a more intuitive filtering system, and a simplified return process, I improved the overall experience, reducing drop-off rates and increasing user satisfaction.

Effortless Elegance: Crafting Clothesline’s Light & Airy Aesthetic

The design team aimed to create a clean, fresh, and modern aesthetic for the app. Since Clothesline is a clothing rental platform, we wanted to avoid any sense of clutter or a “worn” feel. We were drawn to high-contrast visuals and curated a collection of UI inspirations that helped shape our design system.

For Clothesline, I helped craft a cohesive design system that balances elegance with approachability. We opted for the Figtree typeface—its rounded forms create a friendly yet modern feel, reinforcing the app’s fresh and inviting aesthetic. To complement this, we designed slightly rounded icons, ensuring visual harmony and a softer, more welcoming interface. By maintaining consistency across typography, iconography, and UI components, I helped create a system that enhances usability while reinforcing brand identity. This project highlights my ability to develop scalable design systems that prioritize clarity, cohesion, and user experience.
